Things starting to come together for May Day’s celebrations on Union Island. Start dusting off your glad-rags and big flags. Can you be most fashionably attired unionist?

Today (6 March) is the international day of action to support Mansour Osanloo – have a look at www.freeosanloo.org to get involved. Union Island had a visitation from the vintage.id crew to show their support. Vintage.id is an interesting project, based in Germany, using 5 publicly shared avatars to explore what happens when many people share one identity, rather than the individual and secret identities of other SL residents. Anyone can log in as one of the crew and contribute to the project. You can follow the adventures of (from left to right in the photo) , Matsuka Imako, Teedra Roussel, Jarvis Clavenham, Cecilia Lohner and Maxxx Illios at the vintage.id blog – Who will be them (and who will they be?) tomorrow?

Virtual beer in our virtual bar, courtesy of the Workers’ Beer Company, a UK union company which raises funds for union projects. WBC organise beer tents at big music festivals such as Glastonbury, and recruit hundreds of volunteers to work there in exchange for a free event pass, earning thousands of pounds for union causes from the festival organisers – everyone wins. They also have a (very nice) pub in Clapham, London, called the Bread and Roses – check it out if you ever find yourself in Real Life!
